Anyone have a child with ODD? If you do not know what ODD is then you do not have a kid with it. I am just curious to know if anyone has suggestions to help me with my ODD child.
My best friend has a child with ODD. He is a tough kid and she has learned over the years with a lot of help how to deal with his tantrums and outbursts. She joined a parent training program to help manage her child's behavior. They also go to family psychotherapy which I know made a big difference in their lives. This site is really helpful and interesting in reading more about ODD. Good luck and hang in there, there are a lot of options for support these days.

The basic temperment of individuals changes very little from childhood to adulthood. Think about it; are you not basically the same as when you were a kid? Immature patterns frequently persist untill late teenage hood. You know some of the answers and need not be reminded. Maybe he or she will turn around by adulthood. If not, each person is responsible for themselves. The best families sometimes produce sociopaths which gives substance to the concept of nature over nurture. Do your best with what you have.
