I was informed by a couple of people that as a permanent resident of the United States, if I stay here physically for 3 consecutive years the required number of years before I can apply for citizenship would be shortened. Is that true or does it make any difference? Because I intend to go home to my homeland for the Holidays and I have only stayed here for 2 years, I'm now confused whether to go home this Christmas or sacrifice and wait till next year to acquire citizenship faster.
