What is a Notice of Assignment?

I just recieved a Notice of Assignment, transferring of rights to a debt collector(mortgage co).   I dont understand this.  Does it mean  I can lose my house?

Realistically, if you do not pay off your debts, you can lose your house. If you are worried about paying off the debts or need help doing so, I'd suggest contacting one of many debt management companies and seeing if they can help. Good luck.
