When I was a preteen I often had severe nose bleeds and at times had to go to a clinic to stop them. Later, as a teenager I continued to have nose bleeds occassionally but not as severe.   Dryness in conjunction with the thin membranes seemed to be the cause. I found that if I kept my nostrils moist with vaseline or some other lubricant it would prevent nose bleeds. To stop a nose bleed I would moisten a wad of kleenex with vaseline or even a bit of water and pack it tightly in my nostril. Laying down with my head back helped as well.  I hope my experience is helpful to you.  Agios.

There are quite a few reasons for chronic nosebleeds. Some are fairly simple like the inside of the nose being too dry, and can be solved by putting a bit of vaseline or moisturising cream inside the opening of the nose. Other reasons might be less simple. If your friend suffers from chronic nosebleeds I would suggest that they speak to an ear nose and throat specialist

The vast majority of the time, nosebleeds have one cause - nosepicking.  So the first step is to absolutely, positively swear a mighty oath not to pick that nose.   Still, many people appear to pick their nose without even thinking about it.  So, assuming one cannot seem to stop picking, the next question becomes how to stop a bleed once it starts.  As a former picker/bleeder, I learned to stop gushing bleeds by sitting calmly, tilting my head back, then patiently squeezing the bottom of my nose for 15 long minutes.  The main goal is to prevent blood from leaving the nose so that an undisturbed clot can form.  It gets pretty gross after the clot has fully set, as you end up spitting out clots the size of your last thumb joint sometimes, but it works.  I have also heard that pressure against the upper lip right under the nose will restrict blood to the main arteries that feed blood to the nasal mucosa.  (But I read this after swearing the mighty oath that ended my picking and bleeding so can't vouch for it).  If the bleeding persists after the first 15-minute clamping, do another 15 minutes.  It will stop eventually.

The nose bleed also results from a sneeze or a small touch.

I am surprised no one told you about but if you suffer from it a lot you should see a doctor which may recommand cautery to the blood vessel that is causing the trouble.
