Non-productive cough with rattling, wheezing and crackling chest

What best loosens mucus in chest with bronchitis.  Always used Mucinex DM, but not helping this time... I have a non-productive cough with rattling chest - dr. says it's bronchitis, but it won't go away... 3 days of antibiotics and inhaler have not helped...

First of all, I'm sorry you're not feeling well and hope you recover soon. Secondly, I would not get into the habit of asking for medical advice online, especially when you've already seen a doctor. Please finish ALL of your antibiotics and call your doctor if you don't start feeling better in a day or two. I hope that you don't mind, but I will be praying for you.Laughing

If it ain't broke, take it apart and make it better.

Hi Chelly.  My experience with bronchitis is that it takes alot longer than a cold to get over it.  I knew a gal that would get bronchitis every summer for 2-3 months and then just go away.  Keep seeing your dr. and take all of your meds.......Joe

Bronchitis can take awhile to get over, however ask your doctor to give you a precription for Histenex HC. It really helped me. It stopped the cough, and really cleared my airways. It does contain codeine, so they are reluctant to prescribe it very often. But if nothing else is working, ask your doctor if you can try a small bottle and see if you have any luck with it. I swear by it, it works for me like nothing else does.
