They claim it won't have any influence on the development of KDE, take a look at the link to Open Letter to the Open Source Community at the page you linked to.

However, Skype is also developed on Qt and I wonder what they are thinking now.

These are some of the awesome and cool things you can do in Ubuntu 8.10 Linux. Along with it being more stable, it also runs better on older hardware. I'd never be able to do the equivalents of most of this stuff with Vista on this laptop. More info on Ubuntu: http://www.ubuntu.com/
