Noble root

I love dessert wines, and I have been told by a relative that there is a wine which is infected with some kind of mushroom called Botrytis cinerea, I checked it out and it sounds interesting (Sauternes). Can any one recommend certain vineyards and good years of harvest?

Like many good things this was found out by mistake. The entire grape crop for the year seems doomed, till one owner decided to make a go for it anyway. basically this fungus turns the grapes to raisins, thus increasing their sugar content and enhancing taste.

I would recommend  looking into some German wines from the Rhine valley area. Unfortunately the last time i was there I kept planning on sampling, but never got around to it :-)
