I was excited, I cried, I gave thanks, there so many emotions. Although there were a lot of other reasons that I voted for Obama (i.e issues, the campaign he ran, professionalism ect..., I was proud when he won as the first African American president.
I am a 57 year old African American woman and never thought I would see this in my lifetime, so it had a profound effect on me. I live in the south and I experienced the years of segregation, so I can't lie, it had special meaning for me as a black.
