I blame the parents for enabling him. But, honestly, which one of us would not give our children the best we possible can. I do feel though as parents they took the responsibility of his actions when they allowed the child to continue driving after the first ticket was issued. I feel the parents should be the one's in the jail cell right now, not the kid. I think the laws in florida should change to force more parents to be responsible for their children.
As for the crash itself, reality, based on other accidents I've seen (as a professional driver I see many) there was too much car left for it to be high speed. I myself can rev the engine and flip through the gears without going over the speed limit.
Normally I would feel very compassionate for the young man still in the hospital, but not in this case. Dont get me wrong. I'm concerned for his health and well being. But when do we take responsibility for our own stupid actions. The seatbelt law has been in effect for over 20 years now. I believe a person riding without seatbelts should have no rights to anything. And while we're on the subject THE ONLY THING DUMBER THAN DRINKING AND DRIVING IS BEING A PASSENGER OF A DRINKING DRIVER.
I know it sounds like I'm defending the kid too much. But when I see him on the news vs. watching the hogan knows best series, his eyes have lost the youthful sparkle. Replaced with the agonly of a mistake most of us won't ever experience.
So to answer your question, "YES" the hogan boy is seriously injured and no amount of medicine will make it heal. The preventable accident will haunt him the rest of his life.
