New fax machine

basicly, the combined machines are ok as long that they are from a respected company.

note that FAXs uses alot of 'ink" (when recieving a fax from a regular fax machines at most) so go for a laser printer and not ink cartriges.

you can consider buying a fax/modem card and get faxes directly to your computer as an image file. (sending is also possible but if you are not sending 'computerized' stuff then you will need a scanner).

if you need a fax machine mainly to get faxes then you can buy a virtual number that can receive faxes and fwd them to your Email...

 it's all depands on what you need.

Combi fax/scanner/printers are getting cheaper, so I would recommend looking for one of those. However, apart from going with one of the big names like HP, I cant advise on which model to buy.
