New Ford Edge

I really love the design of the new Ford Edge and the reviews seem pretty good. What are the downsides to this car?

Despite the sporty mission, no manual-shift mode is offered, and the shifter selections are limited to "D" and "L."

Handling is decent at low speeds, with moderate lean and understeer in turns, but gets mushy at higher speeds. Quick lane changes at 50 miles-per-hour provoke some rear-end sway, and the Edge simply doesn't feel as "tied down" as its sportier competitors. The driving experience is best described as bland and safe

I guess it also depends on what type of car you're looking for and what you plan to use it for. If you're looking for a hard core, rough terrain vehicle I think this isn't the choice for you. On the other hand if your interested in a car that you'll be able to take on the odd dirt road but intend to mainly use on the highway You might consider it seriously.

Other than that JPS gave a pretty good description of its down sides.

Hi, I monitor webpages on behalf of Ford and I hope you don't mind me commenting here.  Recently, I read feedback on an Edge owners' enthusiast site (this site is not sponsored by Ford) that I think might be helpful to you.  The topic was "three things I really hate about my 2008 Edge".  Here is the link: FordEdgeForum    (http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2076).  The respondents seem pretty candid about what they like and what they find lacking on the Edge.  They give the kind of feedback that I forward to Ford for review.  If you want to get official Ford information, please visit  Ford Vehicles.  I hope the Edge fits your needs but good luck with whatever you decide to purchase!

Hi fomocona,

The link is very helpful, thanks a lot!
I'm still not sure about buying the Edge, but , I headed out with my dad to check out the car in person recently and it seemed very cool.
