i read an article about people who are decorating with upside down christmas trees. sounds crazy to me but if you are simply going for something different that may be the way to go. my wife and i take turns decorating our home. one year we decorate like nordstom's...ie: all the lights are the same color and we try to coordinate everything to look pretty. then, the next year we decorate with decor items that have a history to us (ie: grandma gave me ______________). it's kind of fun because we change it up so its not the same every year.

I'd rather be useful than decorative.

My mother would always fill brandy snifters with strings of bead garland and put holly and candles in amongst the beads where they trailed out of the glass.  It was very pretty.

I have gone into the German websites and found interesting ideas. Just Google  German craft ideas for Christmas. I had also found nice idea for a advent calendar, using small clay pots and round wood balls. They had them decorated as elves etc. Under the pots were small gift boxes numbered 1-24. Inside were the treats. Hope this helps for the new season.

Have not tryed yet but sounds good. Choose Christmas cards that you have saved over the years and put in cheap frames for a grouping on wall.

make use of things that you like such as color paper, buntings, wall hanging materials, balloons and whatever you have in the house, what you can get from thr market and make yourself.. the idea behind it is to be creative and bring your creative side out.. go for what you like.. and how you will like to make your home stand apart from the standard christmas decorations this year...good luck

You can use: Artificial Christmas Treeas. They are more realistic looking than ever before. Arrange lots of Christmas candles on the dining table and dine by candlelight.Use holiday tableware for every meal in December. Decorate Everything With Holiday Christma Red Bows.
