Neighbor kids are breaking my wood fence which is ...

Neighbor kids are breaking my wood fence which is 8 inches in on my property line in council bluffs, Iowa.

They are doing this on purpose...because we have had problems with them for 14 months now.  They throw trash and alot of unmentionable things on our yard and baseballs, softballs, gulfballs, tennis balls at my roof during all hours of the night.  The police have been notiflies many times but continue to let them get by with this.  At one point they even shot me with a pellet gun while I was out mowing the front yard...still the police have done nothing.  I hired an attorney to send them a Seise & Desist Letter and still they continue.  They have two big dogs that bark constantly and they even encourage them to bark.  I feel as if I have no rights here....And if one more person tells me to move I will just scream!  I have lived here many years before them.  But my question is...what can I do to stop them from breaking the boards on my fence ...one board at a time...is there someone that I can contact for this...since the police allow them to do everything else?

FedUp,  Take pictures of your broken boards, and then sue them in small claims court for the money for a new fence.  When they have to pay you and reimburse you for court costs, I am sure the nonsense will stop.

The police cannot act on your words alone.  You need to catch your neighbors in the act by installing video cameras at strategic locations without your neighbors knowing about them.  Sams Club sells very affordable video cameras with night vision.  When you have the hard evidence, the police will place the perpetrators under arrest.  A chain link fence is far more secure than a wood fence, and will give you a much better video shot when someone tries to cut it with a bolt cutter, or throw garbage into your yards.

It is advisable to keep an accurate record of events, what happened, when it happened, what you did, who you talked to etc...  including police reports and phone calls.  You can bring a civil action against them, in small claims court, if its under $5000 and ask for damages as well as punitive damages.  If you can prove they did it deliberately and out of malice, the court will most likely side with you and allow punitive damages.  This must be very distressing for you and you dont have to move.  This is your home, and you have a right for the peaceful enjoyment of your home.  People usually stop if it starts costing them money.  If you live in a Common Interest Community HOA  then you may want to bring this to the attention of the Association who have covenants to deal with such things and have authority to fine or put a lean against their house if the fine is not paid.

Nice....This morning I woke up with Condoms & eggs thrown about my yard....Still the police do nothings.  (Wondering how the perpetrators seem to find a way around my surveillance cameras)??

Are there devices that are used to intercept wireless video surveillance??
