Sometimes, when life is like that for me, I do a lot of heavy physical work and that way by the time I hit the pillows, I am too exhausted to think.

Some people use Valerian, chamomile, hops, and/or catnip teas.  You can probably find a good mixture such as Sleepy Time Tea at your local health food store or market.

Good luck.  Also, try deep breathing and concentrating on your breath coming in and out, going up and down your spine...my Mother occasionally just sings "Row Row Row Your boat..." over in her head until she falls asleep.

Another technique is to imagine a blackboard and you drawing a circle.  In the circle write 100, and then imagine erasing it.  If you have not erased the line (in your imagination) in any way, you go to 99 and do the same until you hit #1.  If you erase any part of the line you have to do the number over.  I used to fall asleep by around #93 when I used this one.

Good luck! I know lack of sleep can be enerving!
