Need teenager advice....

My family and I relocated across several states a few months ago. We were very happy that our neighbors were so friendly. My step son (age 15) made friends with a neighbor kid (age 12). But my husband and I are now concerned because we feel that the mother is crossing the line. The mother (age 42) has been calling my stepson 3 or 4 times daily and talking to him for 45 minutes each time. We had to ground my stepson from going over there because we literally don't see him for days at a time if we let him go. We have talked to her about it and she acts like she really doesn't get why we are upset. My stepson says that we don't understand and that nothing weird is going on. I am a teacher myself and approximately the same age as this mother.  I personally cannot imagine wanting to talk to a 15 year old this much a day - especially if its not my child.  If a forty year old man (a father of one of my daughters friends) started to call her at age 15 - I would probably call the cops.  I am feeling a bit creeped out about this whole thing. Do you think I am over-reacting?

Do you hear the conversation when she calls your stepson? ask him what this is all about. Or else talk to your 42 year old neighbor and ask her what is going on. He is still under your watch being 15 years old.

Victims of circumstance owe it to fate. Victims of choice owe it to themselves.

No, I do not think that you are overreacting.

I definitely don't think you're overreacting.  If you sense something is going on, chances are that it is.  There are not many reasons why a 15 year old boy would want to hang around with an older woman, or a 12 year old.  When school starts, he will  hopefully meet new friends, but you need to put a stop to what's going on immediately even if it means getting some sort of protection order to keep her away from your son.  Good luck
