When a carefree lesbian motorcyclist, Reena (Nisha Ganatra), offers to be a surrogate mother for her sister, Sarita (Sakina Jaffrey), the cultural traditions and moral values of their New York City-based Indian-American family are challenged. Each member of the family--especially their mother--has a different feeling about the idea. To top it off, Reena's girlfriend is highly skeptical of the plan. With a light and comedic approach to asking serious questions about difficult issues, director Nisha Ganatra gets viewers thinking with CHUTNEY POPCORN.
