I am needing to shop for insurance for my car, home, & trailer. My concern is that I am told when they do inquiries, it lowers you credit score. How can I get several quotes and not lower my credit score?
The best way to do it is by rate shopping for a focused period of one week up to a maximum of two weeks, one category at a time. For example, you can rate shop for your home insurance this month then wait two or three months before you ask for quotes for your car insurance. The idea is to space them far enough from each other so that the credit agencies don't perceive it as rate shopping for everything all in one go.
