Turn off the television and teach your children how to think.

Tell her how you feel and be truthful about it.

You might ask her if she is willing to grant you time to work on the marriage (I suggest marriage counseling). But if she isn't, then I am afraid you will have no choice but to agree to follow through.

You can't make her love you and you can't make her want to stay married to you. You can just hope that right now she is reacting out of anger and a desire to hurt you as much as you hurt her by filing for divorce in the first place.

Oh, and you should also remember that old saying: Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.

I am Adam Alter !

Looks like you're learning a lesson in responsibility the hard way.  You filed the paperwork for a divorce so there's no reason for her to not go through with it even if you want to stop it because what guarantee is there that you won't just do it again and she has to suffer emotionally.

I don't think anyone can give great advice on this not knowing the causes of this and type of people the two of you are.  I would suggest going the direction of showing true remorse for your choice and what you're going to do to fix things and be a better person making sure nothing like this happens again.  Show her she is in control of this and you don't want to be apart.

How to Keep Your Wife From Leaving..

Your wife wants out of the marriage, and you don’t know what to do. It’s estimated that approximately 50 percent of all marriages end in divorce. What’s more, a large percentage of divorces occur within the first five years. However, you don’t have to be a statistic. Fortunately, there are many ways to keep your wife from leaving..

1

Consider your role in the marriage. It’s easy to point fingers and blame the other person. However, both parties usually contribute to the downfall of a marriage. Take a long hard look in the mirror. Your wife’s complaints about you may be valid. If necessary, ask an outsider for his opinion on the situation.

  • Step 2
Put yourself in her shoes. Women have a lot on their shoulders. They may work outside the home, care for the children, care for the home and handle every little problem that comes up. Meanwhile, you may come home and spend the evening lying on the couch.

  • Step 3
Encourage her to attend marriage counseling. Counseling often helps a couple put the pieces back together. If you’re determined to keep your wife from leaving, talk to a professional. Listen to his advice, and attempt to understand your wife’s side.

  • Step 4
Be honest. If you’ve made a serious mistake, immediately inform your wife. You don’t want your wife to discover the secret on her own.

  • Step 5
Offer her support. Regardless of whether your wife wants to go back to school or start her own business, it’s important to support her decisions. Your first reaction may be to question or veto her decisions. Fight the urge and talk to her with respect.

  • Step 6
Give her attention. Rather than put the children, your work, family or friends ahead of your wife, make sure she’s the most important person in your life. In addition, make time for her. Schedule weekly or monthly date nights.
