Need help finding a title/author PLEEASSE TAKE A LOOK!!

I cant remember the title or author of this story if anyone knows please tell me. a boy is sad that his mother is playing for rich families on christmas he is staring into the fire when he thinks he see's something, it is the fire princess she needs his help she is in love with a water prince but they cant be together so she asks the boy to go ask the old man at the north pole and he rides on the back of the wind, when they get there they see a lot of frozen bodies and the ice man says he can only ask one question or he will freeze him to death so he asks how the fire princess and the water prince can be together. thats all i can remember of the story
