Home use and heavy duty usually do not go hand in hand.  Typically things that are marketed to the homeowner are of lesser quality (and price) than those marketed to professionals.  You said that you need it for "large home projects", what exactly do you need it for, since that will help influence what you should get.  Also, have you thought about renting one?  Depending upon what you need to do, how long, and often you will be using it, it might be a lot less expensive to rent one from Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, or any of the other rental places out there.

Either way, you want to compare the flow rate, if you can use concentrates (deck/siding/concrete additives), ease of changing nozzles, and portability.

Even though I prefer to support local companies, items like this I tend to purchase from Home Depot, simply because of their return policy.  If it breaks, they take it back within the first 30 days.
