Absolute Genius Fade, if only more people could answer questions as fully and as helpfull as you on this here interweb,

 The only difference I found was the Hardware ID for vista was different

USB\VID_0A5C&PID_200F

but I replaced it with the hardware ID found in the unknown device

 USB\VID_0A5C&PID_2100

and it worked fine.
