Nearly expired passport

I have an E2 visa that does not expire until Feb 09. My Canadian passport will expire in September 08 but I will still be using it to travel back into the states, this summer. As soon as I get back from our summer plans I will renew it. Can I still enter the states with a passport that close to becoming expired?
