Natural cures for childrens asthma

The dr says that my daughter has asthma.  She is 2 1/2 years old he also thinks that my 6 month old son has it.  They do wheeze and coughing is a HUGE problem for my daughter.  But we have never had an "attack".  I suffered really badly from allergies growing up and so did my hubby.  She also has dark circles under her eyes.

I am looking for some NATURAL advice of stuff that WORKS!  Iam not a natural freak but I am willing to give something a try however I am NOT going to plant a herb garden if you get my point :)

Also the dr. told me to keep the kids away from animals-- making me truly feel like just a number-- because we farm for a living!!  thank you!

A penny saved  is a penny earned

hi mandy,

i have been thru that also and it is so hard to keep children away from animals  that they love.try putting one of thoses bandanana over the bottle part of their face eyes down. when they go out to the animals.  make it a game for them  like you do for cops and robbers.  they also have masks they sell at drug stores or walmart.  cats are really hard on asthmsa

the best thing to do is get your doctors advice.  i had a grandchild  that use a nebulizer  when she needed it.  also advair,  but check with doctor first.    i have both and use .

for informtion go to www.best4health.net      its really great one.  i use it all the time for info.  they something new now you can google  /  scherch

on there now whick is very helpful

best in the future

god bless your family and you

  1. Allergen Removal
  2. Remove anything that can set off an asthma attack. Many episodes are allergy related so removing carpets, long-haired pets or feathered friends can greatly decrease asthmatic attacks.
  3. Environment
  4. Living in low humidity areas and keeping home humidity levels below 50 percent will control dust mites, fungus and mold. Staying indoors on high pollution days will also alleviate symptoms. It is best to maintain a smoke-free home.
  5. Antioxidants
  6. Vitamin C, E, selenium, magnesium, B12 and B6 help reduce asthma attacks. They reduce free radicals that induce bronchoconstriction and mucus secretion.
  7. Swimming
  8. Building lung strength will not prevent an asthma attack, but will help your child generate greater lung capacity to hold more oxygen in their lungs and help prevent long-term scaring from attacks. The natural resistance on the chest when in water makes this a fun and easy exercise to do.
  9. Water is Best
  10. Make sure your child drinks enough water and avoid drinks that can increase mucus secretion, such as soft drinks and juices. Proper hydration is essential to carrying water through the blood stream.
  11. Herbal Treatment
  12. Certain herbs have anti-inflammatory or expectorant affects. Some that have been specifically used for asthma are cayenne, licorice and sundew.
  13. Medical Advice
  14. Check with your pediatrician on any new therapy you intend to start with your child for their asthma. It is always best to keep your medical practitioner involved in the event there is an allergic or adverse reaction to any new therapy.

  15. Step 1
Add 1 to 2 tsp. caraway seeds to boiling water and have your child inhale the steam to clear her bronchial airways.

  16. Step 2
Make ginger tea. Add 1 to 2 minced garlic cloves to a cup of ginger tea and give the child one glass in the morning and one in the evening.

  17. Step 3
Drink licorice root tea. Add ½ tsp. licorice root to a cup of hot water. Steep for 10 minutes. Strain and offer it to your child.

  18. Step 4
Chew fennel seeds. Chewing fennel seeds on a regular basis will help remove mucus from the chest area, which will serve to prevent future asthma attacks.

  19. Step 5
Inhale the scent of honey. At the time of an asthma attack, have your child bend over a jar or bowl of honey and inhale. After a few minutes, breathing should return to normal.

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

There are a 101 natural cures for asthma, from the benign (e.g. magnesium suppliments) to the crazy.(e.g. intentionally infect yourself with hookworm)

The best natural thing you can do is try to remove as many of the irritants that are promoting the symptoms as possible.  (dust, pet dander, mold spores, etc.)

Had an afterthought.  Have you tried allergen block gel, which claims to be drug-free?  There's a Little Allergies brand as well as Chloraseptic.  You dab it around the nostrils and it supposedly helps keep out things that trigger attacks.  While not specifically for asthma, it might be worth a try. (The Chloraseptic gel warns to avoid eye contact, so it might not be suitable for the baby)

Natural health = good health naturally.

A couple of things to add to the other comments:  If your family members are blood type A or O, chances are you are lactose intolerant.  Cut out the dairy and wheat products in the diet.  Vitamin C ascorbates powder will many times stop an asthma attack when placing 1/4 to 1 tsp. (depending on the age of the person) under the tongue and letting it desolve.  A great natural remedy for children and adults is ALJ liquid by Natures Sunshine Products www.mynsp.com/jones6 Good luck!

While you are brewing coffee the steem and vapors that come off it can calm weezeing . Steam from a bath can also help with it but in some cases the moisture makes it worse . All three of my kids suffer from asthma and the main thing to remember is to follow the doctors advice and have the flu shots every year and with diffrent allergies they also have shots to help .
