Nationalized Health Care Fallacy; The Drugs You Need Will Be Provided By The Government!

Suninitib (Sutent)
For kidney cancer.
Licensed, but the Department of Health has yet to refer it to Nice for a recommendation.

John Quance, 57

The former fireman was told he could not have the drug Sutent because the NHS would not pay for it.

Mr Quance, who has been diagnosed with kidney cancer, cashed in his pension and remortgaged his house to pay for it privately, but fears that he may have to sell his home unless the NHS steps in. Cornwall Primary Care Trust said it was not prepared to pay the £22,000-a-year cost of the drug until it was approved by Nice.

Mr Quance said: "I have worked all my life, I have been in the forces, the prison service and the fire service for 30-odd years and I feel a little bit abandoned.

"The staff and the hospital have been excellent but it is a little disappointing not to get funding when it has been proved [the drug] is working."

Bevacizumab (Avastin)
For bowel cancer.
Licensed for colon cancer in January 2005, but turned down on the grounds of cost-effectiveness in January.

Victoria Otley, 56

Miss Otley was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the end of 2005. She had complained of being in pain but doctors told her that it was nothing to worry about.

By the time her cancer was diagnosed it had spread. She took other drugs and later asked about getting Avastin after her sister read about it on the internet. Yesterday, Miss Otley, a former hairdresser from Dagenham, said: "I asked my consultant but he said it wasn't available on the NHS."

She and her sister paid £15,000 for a course of Avastin and the cancer shrunk, however they cannot afford to pay for any more. "You work all your life and pay your taxes and this is what you get. I think it's disgusting."

Cetuximab (Erbitux)
For bowel cancer.
Licensed in June 2004 and turned down by Nice in January this year.

Ian MacDonald

The former bridge inspector's doctor told him that he would have liked to have prescribed Erbitux, but that he could not because it was not available on the NHS.

Mr Macdonald has tried various drugs and radiotherapy since being diagnosed with bowel cancer in the year 2000.

His wife Catherine, who has given up work to care for him full-time, said yesterday: "My husband has worked all his life in this country and never had a day off sick and yet he is refused a drug that might stabilise or shrink his tumour.

"I can't understand why it is not available here but it is in other countries. It's awful."

Erlotinib (Tarceva)
For non-small cell lung cancer.
Licensed in Sept 2005, approved by the Scottish Medicines Consortium in June last year and rejected by Nice in March on the grounds that it was not clinically or cost effective. Manufacturers Roche are appealing against the decision.

Susan Allen, 43

She was told she had ten months to live after being diagnosed with lung cancer in December 2005.

A non-smoker, whose hobbies include cycling and running, the mother-of-one underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy and was prescribed Tarceva by her oncologist in October last year. She had to pay for the daily pills herself initially, at a cost of £70 per day, until her local health authority eventually changed its mind.

She said: "Denying the drug is condemning patients to death."

(Bortezomib) Velcade
For bone marrow cancer patients who have had at least one earlier therapy or are unsuitable for a bone marrow transplant.
Nice has agreed to review its rejection of the drug in March. Patients in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have been able to get it since last year.

George King, 57

Mr King, who is terminally ill with bone marrow cancer was forced to consider moving to Scotland to get access to Velcade in an attempt to prolong his life.

Mr King, an electrical engineer from Teesside, said earlier this year: "People with terminal illnesses shouldn't have to fight for treatment. It's so frustrating. This drug is available not only in Europe, but just a few miles north of where I live. I don't have any option but to move away from my family, friends and the people who have helped me through the cancer until now."

Pemetrexed (Alimta)
For mesothelioma, a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos, and small-cell lung cancer.
Patient groups are waiting for the results of an appeal against Nice's rejection of the treatment in February for lung cancer. A decision on funding for mesothelioma is expected in September.

Bernard Hoyland

The retired mechanical fitter spent the last years of his life fighting to make Alimta available for patients in his area.

After he was diagnosed with mesothelioma he was told his primary care trust would not pay for him to receive Alimta because it was too expensive. He launched a legal attempt for compensation against his former employers, began travelling to London every three weeks to receive cancer treatment and joined a campaign to force NHS bosses in Teesside to fund Alimta. Six months after funding was agreed, Nice ruled that it was too costly.

Mr Hoyland, who called the decision "simply unacceptable", died last November.

His son Paul said: "He ended up having to travel to central London after finding he could get the chemotherapy down there. He was a victim of the postcode lottery."

Right now in America, even the poor have access to cancer drugs via programs for indigent care from all the major drug producers. America has the top of the line access to chemo drugs in the world, regardless of the ability to pay!

Nationalized Health Care proposed by Obama will replace those programs with programs which are controlled by the government and availability will be based on cost effectiveness. So, even the poor will not get access to these drugs!

The MOST inexperienced President in history, at our MOST critical time in history!

SENIOR DEATH WARRANTS:

  The actress Natasha Richardson died after falling skiing in Canada ..  It took eight hours to drive her to a hospital.

If Canada had our healthcare she might be alive today.

In the United States , we have medical evacuation helicopters that would have gotten her to the hospital in 30 minutes.

In England anyone over 59 cannot receive heart repairs or stents or bypass because
it is not covered as being too expensive and not needed.

Obama wants to have a healthcare system just like Canada 's and England 's.

I got this today and am sending it on.  If Obama's plans in other areas don't scare you, this should!

  Please do not let Obama sign senior death warrants!!

Everybody that is on this mailing list  knows somebody that is a senior.

Most of you know by now that the Senate version (at least) of the "stimulus" Bill includes provisions for extensive rationing of health care for senior citizens.

The author of this part of the bill, former senator and tax evader, Tom Daschle was credited today by Bloomberg with the following statement:

Bloomberg:  Daschle says "health-care reform will not be pain free.  Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them."

  If this does not sufficiently raise your ire,
just remember that our esteemed Senators and Congressmen have their own healthcare plan that is first dollar or very low co-pay which they are guaranteed the remainder of their lives and are not subject to this new law if it passes.

Please use the power of the Internet to get this message out.  Talk it up at the grassroots level.

We have an election coming up in one year and nine months, and we have the ability to address and reverse the dangerous direction the Obama administration and it allies have begun and in the interim, we can make their lives miserable  Lets do this!
   If you disagree, do nothing.
We are in a critical time regarding which direction the health care debate is going to go. Make your voice heard. And be armed with the facts. Watch "Sicko" again!
  "Sicko" airs on The Movie Channel tonight at 8:00 PM. It's also scheduled to air on The Movie Channel on July 27th at 4:05 PM and on TMC Xtra on August 2nd at 10:45 PM and August 5th at 2:15 AM and 7:30 AM. Click here for showtimes .

Good Morning,

    We spent the weekend at McEntire Airforce Base near Sumpter South Carolina. It was most enlightening to have the time to actually talk to some of the young men in uniform. These young men are bright, dedicated, and very proficient at their job. We were both duly impressed.
I cannot say enough about these young defenders of America.

    The one point I would like to make. When you mention the word OBAMA in the presence of these young Americans, be prepared for the harsh reality that their Commander In Chief is anything BUT that. There is no respect for Obama. At least none that we heard. Very sad. Yet, they will continue to support you and this country with all of their being, with all of their soul, and if necessary their lives. Amazing really.

    When you view this video, and it only takes two minutes, just ask yourself two questions.

    How did America get into this mess with the Left trying to destroy all that we believe in?
Second, How do we get out of this with our Country in tact? We still have three years of this maniacal madness.

    One last thought. It seems that if this continues the only true recipients of all of this thought process, are going to be the people who are here Illegally. What the hell is wrong with that picture. Illegal is illegal is illegal!

            Thank you T.

 It just keeps getting better.. This is unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I KNEW this was going to happen.  (That way Obama wasn't lying when he said illegals would not be able to get medical coverage under his ObamaCare plan.  His simple fix is to make them all legal first.)

EVERY ONE--PLEASE TAKE TIME TO LISTEN TO THIS--IT TELLS ABOUT THE BILL GOING THRU CONGRESS RIGHT NOW REGARDING IMMIGRATION.

EVEN CNN IS GETTING UPSET  ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!!!!
Pass this on after you watch it.   NOTICE THAT THIS IS FROM  CNN,  NOT FOX!!!

General Eisenhower Warned Us

http://www.targetofopportunity.com/holocaust2.jpg

It is a matter of history that when Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower, found the victims of the death camps he ordered all possible photographs to be taken, and for the German people from surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the dead.

He did this because he said in words to this effect:

"Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the road of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened."

This week, the UK removed the record of the Holocaust from its school curriculum because it "offended" the Muslim population which claims it never occurred. How easily each country gives into this idea is a frightening reality.

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended. This e-mail is being sent as a memorial chain, in memory of the, 6 million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians and 1,900 Catholic priests who were 'murdered, raped, burned, starved, beat, experimented on and humiliated' while the German people looked the other way!

http://www.targetofopportunity.com/holocaust3.jpg

http://www.targetofopportunity.com/holocaust4.jpg

Now, more than ever, with countries and governments like Iran, claiming the Holocaust to be nothing more than a "myth", it is imperative for every civilized human being to make sure the world never forgets the truth.

Be a link in the memorial chain and help distribute this around the world. E-mail everyone you know.

How many years will it be before the attack on the World Trade Center

"NEVER HAPPENED!!!"

When will this re-writing of history happen because it offends the conscience and sensitive nature of Muslims in the United States?

If you think it cannot happen, think again. No one ever thought the Holocaust and the atrocities committed by the Nazis could be doubted or forgotten.

Good Morning,

   I opened this email Sunday afternoon and forwarded to several people. No big deal. However, as I was saying goodbye to my little Granddaughter last night, (We are heading to Florida for several weeks), and as I looked at that little face the contents of this Email came back to me. I will let you be the judge, but it just reconfirms my belief that we need to stand united against this attack on our country. If not for us, for our children, and our children's children.

Unite behind Obama?

On Dr. Charles Stanley's Sunday program "In Touch", the guest speaker Dr. David Barton - on Obama:

Respect the Office?  Yes.
Respect the Man in the Office?  No, I am sorry to say.

I have noted that many elected officials, both Democrats and Republicans, called upon America to unite behind Obama.
Well, I want to make it clear to all who will listen that I AM NOT uniting behind Obama!  I will respect the Office which he holds, and I will acknowledge his abilities as an orator and wordsmith and pray for him, BUT that is it.

I have begun today to see what I can do to make sure that he is a one-term President!

Why am I doing this?  It is because:

- I do not share Obama's vision or value system for America;

- I do not share his Abortion beliefs;

- I do not share his radical Marxist's concept of re-distributing wealth;

- I do not share his stated views on raising taxes on those who make $150,000+ (the ceiling has been changed three times since August);

- I do not share his view that America is Arrogant;

- I do not share his view that America is not a Christian Nation;

- I do not share his view that the military should be reduced by 25%;

- I do not share his view of amnesty and giving more to illegals than our American Citizens who need help;

- I do not share his views on homosexuality and his definition of marriage;

- I do not share his views that Radical Islam is our friend
and Israel is our enemy who should give up any land;

- I do not share his spiritual beliefs (at least the ones he has made public);

- I do not share his beliefs on how to re-work the healthcare system
in America ;

- I do not share his Strategic views of the Middle East ; and

- I certainly do not share his plan to sit down with terrorist regimes such as Iran .

Bottom line: my America is vastly different from Obama's, and I have a higher obligation to my Country and my GOD to do what is Right!

For eight (8) years, the Liberals in our Society, led by numerous entertainers who would have no platform and no real credibility but for their celebrity status, have attacked President Bush, his family, and his spiritual beliefs!  They have not moved toward the center in their beliefs and their philosophies, and they never came together nor compromised their personal beliefs for the betterment of our Country!

They have portrayed my America as a land where everything is tolerated except being intolerant!

They have been a vocal and irreverent minority for years!

They have mocked and attacked the very core values so important to the founding and growth of our Country!

They have made every effort to remove the name of GOD or Jesus Christ from our Society!

They have challenged capital punishment, the right to bear firearms, and the most basic principles of our criminal code!

They have attacked one of the most fundamental of all Freedoms,
the right of free speech!

Unite behind Obama?        Never ! ! !

I am sure many of you who read this think that I am going overboard, but I refuse to retreat one more inch in favor of those whom I believe are the embodiment of Evil!

PRESIDENT BUSH made many mistakes during his Presidency, and I am not sure how history will judge him.  However, I believe that he weighed his decisions in light of the long established Judeo-Christian principles of our Founding Fathers!!!

Majority rules in America, and I will honor the concept; however, I will fight with all of my power to be a voice in opposition to Obama and his "goals for America."   I am going to be a thorn in the side of those who, if left unchecked, will destroy our Country ! !

Any more compromise is more defeat!

I pray that the results of this election will wake up many who have sat on the sidelines and allowed the Socialist-Marxist anti-GOD crowd to slowly change so much of what has been good in America!

"Error of Opinion may be tolerated where Reason is left free to combat it." - Thomas Jefferson

GOD bless you and GOD bless our Country ! ! !

Thanks for your time, be safe. "In GOD We Trust"

"THIS WAS IN MY E-MAIL,FROM ONE OF OUR BEST POSTERS"
      "PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ, THANK YOU"

Good Morning Friends,

I take this recent statement by Dr. Charles Krathammer not as fact, but as a distinct possibility.

I am not sure how many of you are familiar with the Climate Change Meeting that will be occurring in December, (Copenhagen), and the potential ramifications on Americas Sovereignty? At this point I don't, but am trying to educate myself as to the possible outcomes. Why? Because it is really starting to assail my basic American sensibility
. Sorry, but I kind of like what freedoms we still posses, and have this unnerving feeling that what this administration is trying to do with OUR country is simple. That is to Take us into economic parity with the rest of the developed nations. Instead of being number ONE, we shall be ONE of many.

Dr.
Krathammers statement, or belief.

"
Obama doesn't really see himself as President of the United States, but more as a ruler over the world.  He sees himself above it all, trying to orchestrate & coordinate various countries and their
agendas.  He sees moral equivalency in all cultures.  His apology tour in Germany and England was a prime example of how he sees America, as an imperialist nation that has been arrogant, rather than a great noble nation that has at times made errors.  This is the first President ever who has chastised our allies and appeased our enemies!"

With that thought in mind I have taken several sections of the proposed Global Climate Change Treaty and did a little cutting and pasting.
What you will notice is what I call a lot of multiple choice language. Depending on the choices taken, and the signatures adhered to, will basically determine what we as a once sovereign nation will contribute to the rest of the world. From what I can tell, if the proper wording is picked in the FILL IN THE BLANKS, we will be screwed.  You be the judge.

Here are some of the excerpts. Once again you be the judge.
When I filled in the most conservative blanks, guess what? Take the first paragraph and you fill in the blank and ask yourself, WHAT DOES THIS DO TO OUR ECONOMY? OUR JOBS? OUR WAY OF LIFE???
If you recall Bush would not sign the Kyoto Treaty that called for a 5% reduction of Carbon Emissions for the vast ramifications that would be felt by the U. S. Let me think. What do you thing a 75 % reduction would do, much less a 95% reduction.

36. The new agreed post-2012 institutional arrangement and legal framework to be established for
the implementation, monitoring, reporting and verification of the global cooperative action for
mitigation, adaptation, technology and financing, should be set under the Convention. It should include a
financial mechanism and a facilitative mechanism drawn up to facilitate the design, adoption and
carrying out of public policies, as the prevailing instrument, to which the market rules and related
dynamics should be subordinate, in order to assure the full, effective and sustained implementation of the
Convention.
38. The scheme for the new institutional arrangement under the Convention will be based on three
basic pillars: government; facilitative mechanism; and financial mechanism, and the basic organization
of which will include the following:
(a)
The government will be ruled by the COP with the support of a new subsidiary body on
adaptation, and of an Executive Board responsible for the management of the new funds
and the related facilitative processes and bodies. The current Convention secretariat will
operate as such, as appropriate.

At this point there are 200 pages of this piece of work.

Does the Carbon Issue need to be addressed? Yes. Does Health Care need to be addressed. Yes.
How? In small, systematic increments that actually accomplish the ends to the mean. That don't disrupt our whole social and economic system at the insistence of our Presidents outlook on our FLAWED and unfair nation.

The question that I need to ask is very simple. Is this
GCC treaty a means to Obama's true goal as suggested by Dr. Krathammer? How does this tie into Cap and Trade, Health Care, Compensation Control, Education, and all of the other radical changes that he is trying to enact?

I think that we are starting to see the larger picture now.

KEEP THE FAITH, and I think it is safe to say, KEEP UP THE FIGHT!

B.

Ducks Bump Wildcats in Game of the Year...

by Brian Grummell Filed under: Arizona , Oregon , Pac 10 , General CFB Insanity It was arguably the game of the year in college football. It was certainly further evidence that the Pac-10 is back as a national conference. After two overtimes and a touchdown with six seconds left in regulation, the Oregon Ducks outlasted Arizona 44-41 to take control of the Pac-10. For a while, the stars seemed to align for Arizona. California upset Stanford during the the third quarter of the Wildcats' game, bumping one Pac-10 peer from Rose Bowl contention. Meanwhile, Arizona shrugged off a 14-0 deficit to take a 24-14 lead early in the fourth quarter. However, Oregon then rallied with 17 points in the final frame, including a highlight-worthy touchdown pass from Jeremiah Masoli to Ed Dickson with six seconds left that deflated the home crowd and dispersed the students, who had emerged nearby to storm the field.Ducks Bump Wildcats in Game of the Year Candidate originally appeared on Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog on Sun, 22 Nov 2009 00:49:00 EST . 'It's My Time,' Andre Ward Says After...

by Lem Satterfield Filed under: WBA , WBC , Showtime Most believed that Andre Ward faced a disadvantage in overall experience against Denmark's WBA champion, Mikkel Kessler , on Saturday night. Not only did Kessler enter their matchup with more than twice as many victories as Ward, but he also had almost three times as many knockouts, and had held the super middleweight (168 pounds) crown for nearly five years -- longer than Ward has been a professional. But youth trumped experience as did ring generalship in their clash at Oracle Arena, where Ward dethroned Kessler with an 11th-round technical decision before an enthusiastic, partisan crowd of 10, 277 in the 2004 American Olympic gold medalist's hometown of Oakland, Calif.'It's My Time,' Andre Ward Says After Dethroning Mikkel Kessler originally appeared on Fanhouse Boxing Blog on Sun, 22 Nov 2009 00:27:00 EST . McCoy Keeps Longhorns on Title March

by Terrance Harris Filed under: Kansas , Texas , BCS , Big 12 AUSTIN, Texas -- For 21 University of Texas seniors, Saturday night was their last time playing at Texas Memorial Stadium. So they made it a night to remember. The second-ranked Longhorns overpowered Kansas en route to a 51-20 victory that cemented them as the Big 12 South division champions and sealed senior quarterback Colt McCoy 's place as college football's all-time winningest quarterback with 43 career wins. But the Texas Longhorns , who are well positioned for their first BCS national championship game bid since 2005, still have quite a bit of business to finish. They will have to get past rival Texas A&M on Thanksgiving night and then North division champ Nebraska in the Big 12 title game.McCoy Keeps Longhorns on Title March originally appeared on Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog on Sat, 21 Nov 2009 23:04:00 EST . Stanford Passes on Victory Over Cal

by Michelle Smith Filed under: California , Stanford , Pac 10 STANFORD, Calif. -- Jim Harbaugh talked a little bit about hubris early this week, the danger of thinking you are more than you are. Did Stanford think that putting up 106 points in consecutive upset victories over Oregon and USC would guarantee another flurry of points and touchdown celebrations? Did they think that being ranked nationally and favored in the 112th Big Game - unheard of occurrences since Tyrone Willingham left The Farm for Notre Dame after the 2001 season - gave them an advantage against California 's Bears? Did they think that throwing the ball on 2nd down at the Cal 13-yard line with 1:36 to go was a better option that giving it to Toby Gerhart ?Stanford Passes on Victory Over Cal originally appeared on Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog on Sat, 21 Nov 2009 22:33:00 EST . Erdei Dethrones WBC's Fragomeni

by FanHouse Newswire Filed under: WBA , WBC , IBF , HBO , Showtime KIEL, Germany (AP) -- Zsolt Erdei of Hungary won the WBC cruiserweight title with a majority decision over Giacobbe Fragomeni on Saturday night. Erdei vacated the WBO light-heavyweight title to fight at cruiserweight for the first time, and managed to do just enough against the 40-year-old Italian. Two judges had it 115-113 for Erdei, while the third scored it 114-114. Erdei (31-0) controlled the first three rounds with his speed, landing several powerful rights to Fragomeni's head. The tide turned in the middle rounds when Fragomeni (26-2-1) stepped up the pace, and he began to wear down his younger opponent.Erdei Dethrones WBC's Fragomeni originally appeared on Fanhouse Boxing Blog on Sat, 21 Nov 2009 22:27:00 EST . Hapless on the Hudson: Nets, Knicks and...

by Lisa Olson Filed under: NBA EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Desperation oozed from every pore. If New York-area basketball hasn't reached its nadir, it's only because the NBA has a silly rule that some team must win. Otherwise, who knows how low this charade might go? The players might be the ones slipping paper bags over their heads, to match the fans' embarrassment as they sit in the stands and try not to rubberneck. Though plenty of empty seats were available, more than the usual few gluttons for punishment showed up at the Izod Center Saturday afternoon, hoping to see ... what? New Jersey Nets coach Lawrence Frank fired after the first quarter? New York Knicks owner James Dolan do an about-face and sign Allen Iverson to a multi-year deal? The teams set a combined record for most horrendous shooting in four quarters? Dora the Explorer, the day's big draw, dunk over Nate Robinson ? The possibilities really were endless. As it was, the Nets dropped to 0-13 and continued to careen dangerously toward matching the league record of 17 straight losses to open a season. The Knicks, by virtue of their 98-91 victory, actually won consecutive games to improve to 3-9, and can now turn their focus back on the real goal: convincing LeBron James , or any big free agent to-be, that the cesspool really isn't as nasty as it currently looks. Rejuvenated Mark Martin Remains NASCAR's...

by Holly Cain Filed under: Mark Martin , Chase for the Sprint Cup , Hendrick Motorsports HOMESTEAD, Fla. -- Mark Martin winces, then breaks into a grin every time he hears the introduction. "Ladies and gentlemen ... Mark Martin, who is attempting to become the oldest champion in NASCAR history." The difference between this week and years ago is that Martin grinned. He's been doing that a lot lately. Martin trails his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson by 108 points entering Sunday's Ford 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup season finale at Homestead Miami Speedway. Johnson, 34, only needs to finish 25th or better to clinch a historic fourth consecutive title. Martin, 50, is still looking for his first.Rejuvenated Mark Martin Remains NASCAR's Sentimental Favorite originally appeared on Fanhouse Motorsports Blog on Sat, 21 Nov 2009 18:16:00 EST . No Surprise as Ohio State Tops Michigan

by Mark Hasty Filed under: Michigan , Ohio State "For of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: 'It might have been!'" -- John Greenleaf Whittier For Michigan it really might have been, if not for a dreadful game by Tate Forcier and the Wolverine offense. Rich Rodriguez 's squad fell to Ohio State 21-10 today, keeping Michigan out of the postseason for the second year in a row. Forcier threw four interceptions. He also fumbled in Michigan's end zone on the Wolverines' opening drive, which OSU recovered for a touchdown.No Surprise as Ohio State Tops Michigan originally appeared on Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog on Sat, 21 Nov 2009 16:00:00 EST . The Supporters Sing, MLS Listens

by Brian Straus Filed under: MLS SEATTLE -- It's common knowledge that soccer fans are a bit of a different breed. They care less about comfort and more about spectacle. The sight of a whole section of supporters singing, waiving enormous flags and lighting flares would be shocking at Yankee Stadium or Heinz Field, yet it's expected at soccer venues around the world and is becoming relatively common in MLS . That passion also affects change -- executives know it's not a good idea to upset these people. More so than any other American sports league, MLS has embraced that relationship. While fans elsewhere struggle with nonsense like the BCS, personal seat licenses and Daniel Snyder, MLS supporters have driven the league's evolution (speaking out against gimmicks like the shootout), have worked directly with clubs on ticketing and marketing and enjoy an annual audience with the commissioner that is unimaginable in any other league.The Supporters Sing, MLS Listens originally appeared on Fanhouse Soccer Blog on Sat, 21 Nov 2009 15:35:00 EST . Newman Satisfied With Team Debut

by Holly Cain Filed under: Ryan Newman , Tony Stewart , Stewart-Haas Racing HOMESTEAD, Fla. -- If pressed to find one thing Ryan Newman would change about his season, of course, he'd like to score a win in Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup season finale at Homestead Miami Speedway. After being close to victory circle a half-dozen times this season, that's about the only thing he feels is missing from a stellar debut season with the essentially start-up Stewart-Haas Racing team. Newman won two pole positions in the No. 39 U.S. Army-sponsored Chevrolet and, after an ominous start at the season-opening Daytona 500, still qualified for the 12-driver Chase for the Championship. In our last installment of Inside the Chase for the Championship with Ryan Newman, FanHouse looks at the evolution of the season and how Newman evaluates his fresh start.Newman Satisfied With Team Debut originally appeared on Fanhouse Motorsports Blog on Sat, 21 Nov 2009 14:30:00 EST . 'Sheed's Threes a Problem for the Celtics

by Brett Pollakoff Filed under: Celtics , Magic When the Celtics signed Rasheed Wallace over the summer as their big offseason acquisition, they may have thought they were getting a big man who would stretch the floor with his three-point shooting, and one who would force the centers on the other contenders to come out of the paint to try and stop him. But 13 games into the Sheed experiment in Boston, Wallace's three-point shooting has hurt his new team far more than it has helped them. And Friday night's 0-for-8 performance from beyond the arc? That one was so bad, it made history.'Sheed's Threes a Problem for the Celtics originally appeared on Fanhouse NBA Blog on Sat, 21 Nov 2009 13:55:00 EST . Please see our terms for use of feeds . Longhorns Find It Easy to Stay Focused

by Terrance Harris Filed under: Kansas , Texas , Big 12 AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas coach Mack Brown usually doesn't like to live in the past, but this week he broke out some old film for his team. He showed the Longhorns how teams from 2006 and 2007 finished in comparison to 2005, when Texas won the BCS national title, and last season when many agree the 12-1 Longhorns should have been given the opportunity to compete for the national championship. Brown's point to his second-ranked,10-0 squad is simple: stay focused these last two regular-season games, the Big 12 championship game in two weeks, and then biggest of prizes await the Texas Longhorns in Pasadena. A slip up anywhere between now and the Jan. 7 BCS national championship game will lead to great disappointment for Texas.Longhorns Find It Easy to Stay Focused originally appeared on Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog on Sat, 21 Nov 2009 12:10:00 EST . Ohio State-Michigan Game 2009: Live Twitter...

by Michael David Smith Filed under: Michigan , Ohio State The Ohio State-Michigan game has always been my personal favorite college football rivalry, dating back to my days as a 5-year-old living near Ann Arbor and worshiping Bo Schembechler. OSU vs. Michigan 2009 doesn't figure to be one of the legendary games -- it might not even be a very good game -- but I'll be watching, and I'll be tweeting my observations while I watch. And since I'm a sucker for rivalry games, I'll also be tweeting about lesser rivalries like the Harvard-Yale game as well.
