Answer 12 out of 12

A:

One significant problem problem of today's healthcare is that we have allowed insurance companies to rule the roost.  If you have insurance you are paying high premiums for coverage that may or may not be there when you need it.  Insurance companies can opt out of paying for an expensive diagnostic tool or procedure by saying that it is "investigational" or "experimental" and thus not having to pay anything toward it.  I have amassed many thousands of dollars in unpaid medical expenses while all along believing that I had coverage.  They (insurance companies) give you a false sense of security in believing that you have coverage, when actually medical coverage is like swiss cheese - lots of holes where there is no coverage!  They pick and choose what they will pay for and if their CEO is looking for a big bonus that year, then your "procedure" just doesn't get covered!
