it has thousands of totally free open source software packages for any platform.
once you get used to how to search for the packages, this site is an incredible resource.... most of the time I find just what I'm looking for and it's free and usually just as good, if not better, than commercial software.
all software should be free... or at least not so bloody expensive... would you buy a car without a motor? that's what most computers are like out of the box.
