I live in New Jersey & was hired for Monday thru Friday opening shift. I informed them of my having a script for not driving at night from my eye doctor and I do dog shows & training on weekends. That was on my paper application which has vanished. I Still have a scrip from eye doctor.
The agreement was Mon thru Fri & if needed to help fill in on a weekend day I would if available. I'm a Shift Supervisor & I have worked for this company for 7 years with no problem. I have gone through too many Managers & Assistant Managers to count in the past 7 years. Last year I held the store together with neither a Manager or Assistant Manager for at least 3 months.
Now the new Manager & Assistant Manager in the spring gave me an ultimatum to work nights & weekends or go from 40 hours a week to 30 hours a week. I took the 30 hours & they are still making work weekends & nights. They gave my 5th 8 hour day to two part timers each 4 hrs during the day.
Is this legal?
