When calculating average cost basis (single category)for mutual fund shares purchased over a long period of time at different share prices, are you supposed to somehow factor in expenses such as sales & creation charges (loads)? What about custodian fees? These charges were significant early on. If you are supposed to factor these charge in, how do you do so? The fund statements show a transaction amount (which includes the sales charges) but the shares actually purchased are based on the net amount invested at the particular share price on the date of each transaction.
