Owned '67 Shelby GT350, '69-mid '70's. Bought as investment to later sell & put down payment on new home. Bought from young guy in early 20's, i was 20. He owned it from new, repainted it to a cadillac metallic blue, I had it stripped down to bear metal & repainted to Shelby blue w/2 8" white stripes down center from bumper to bumper. 98% original, first owner added Hurst shifter, mag spoke wheels, 15" tires & relocated radio antenna to passenger rear fender. I changed wheels to Torino GT with 14" polyglass tires. 15" wheels were hitting fender edges when going over bumps or hard turns. Also changed rear when friend who owned '69 GT500 bought 4.56 rear for his, I bought his 4.11 rear. WOW, what a difference in quickness ! Sold it in late 70's to engineering student attending Drexel Univ in Phila. Advertised it in Philly Inquirer for 5 days & it was gone just like that. Many lookers young & mid age guys. Everybody wanted to negotiate to a lower price. I stuck to my figure & got it, telling them that if I didnt get my price now, I would just sit on it & put it up later at a higher price. Glad an engineering type guy bought it, he probably appreciated it for what it is than all the others. One guy from NE Phila wanted to trade me "even up", sight unseen by either of us, for "the BADDEST BOSS 302 in Phila"! Yeah, okay. Down side of it all, is that I'm still kickin myself in the ass today for letting it go. Its just a pleasant memory now.
