The Munich massacre of 1972

I just watched a documentary about the terrible Munich massacre of 1972. How could they keep running the games and not sending everybody home?

The target of terror action (such as that of munich) are to distraupt the regular way of life. The only way that terror get effective is by stoping the normal way of life in order to dill wih it.

That was the problem in munich (on so is today), you couldn't just stop all the things going on in the olympics (both because the tramendus amount of money lost and the great grieve) but on the other hand, you can't just go on and stop the game cause this is the target of the terror act.

I can't say that it was right for the IOC to continue the game but I'm also proud of them to continue it.

Love is the battery of life....

Hi,

The answer is simple: You think in logic terms, the orgenizers (+ the German government) were thinking in tems of: money / tourism / prestige / how will the olympic games in Germany be remembered / damage (to hotels, to the orgenizers), etc.......
Best regards,

But instead the games of 1972 together with the stumble rescue operation are infamously known. They would have probably earn much more respect if everybody were sent home. Personally, I have to say, I deeply appreciate those who did quit after the incident.
