Are there any movies, longer than a short clip, that where filmed by the video function of a digital still camera?
I'm planning to film one about family, and would like to see some similar movies that were done in the same technique.
Do you mean commecial movies? They almost always use 35mm or 16mm film. Those that dont use a high definition video format known as HD1080/24p. It is is likely that some stop frame animation is made using a digital stills camera.

A digital still is designed for still and panoramic photography. The video feature is only an add-on and is good for an extremely short strip.
You have no choice but to use a DVD or video camera for home movies.
