Has anyone see the movie "The Secret", and if so have you tried applying this new way of thinking to your life?  What was the outcome?

I did try it actually after watching "What the bleep do we know" and it's not something you can assure a person it would work. Like in the movie the Secret you have to totally believe in it and accept it . Even if it doesn't work for you is there any harm in positive thinking? Nothing bad in it !

Like what Rikico mentioned in her post, you truly have to believe in the philosophy and acknowledge it. The Secret is about positive thinking mixed with the concept of subconscious mind power to create positive changes in life.

In the movie, this positive change in life manifests due to the universal Law of Attraction. It is based on the simple theory that "Like Attracts Like" and that "Thoughts are things". That is to say your thoughts have the power to create the things you want in life. Do a bit more research to see if the philosophy suits you.

i have been trying the secret diary for about one month and have had amazing changes in my life and my family.  I (to make a long story short) had no vehicle, daughter is a brat, mother in law is a psycho, have to move in the spring like april, may.  I started using the secret......I have a new van which my mother in law gave me as a present, my daughter is still a brat sometimes now not all the time, and i go see a realator about a rent to own property on this thursday.  Does the secret work?  I think so .  I did not write in my book for about six days.  The fighting around here and the helplessness about a vehicle and bills ect came crashing down.  I began writing in it and things drasticaly changed.  So ya if you visualize, and think about what you want doors are opened up for you.  You just have to listen.  Just like the movie Iam Legend  when the girl says to Will Smith  Listen it is so quiet now you can hear what he is trying to say.  If you change your attitude and are grateful for the things that you have then yes things will change and they change fast.  So don't discount the Secret.  I don't even really think it is a secret cause we already know how it works.  Just apply what you know.

hi am yamini,

i saw the review of the book recently in a vernacular magazine and got impressed by it and i bought the book. am only half way through the book, and started giving me confindence which i lacked before. it makes me feel that everything is possible in this damn world.

i tried to practice it am not able to focus.

can anyone tell me if there is a time limit for our visualisation to come true. or should we practice it until it comes true. plz help me people. am confused.

hw long does it take for our visualisation to come true.

help me plz

Interestingly, there's not a lot around about the down side of "The Secret".  The products, meaning the DVD and book, are obviously cash cows for a number of people.  All I can say is BEWARE! Listen to my story and learn.  I followed the principles of The Secret for 2 years.  Left a well paying job and decided to pursue a dream using a visulisation board and a journal. Even became a member of a particular forum supporting Ms R Byrne and read discussions of so called "success" with The Secret. What was the result of my efforts?  Nothing.  Yep, zero.  Just a very reduced bank balance and in the end, deep depression.  Hope you are reading this, Rhonda!  You may wonder and ask if I was in the flow, was I positive, visualising the outcome and already receiving it? Yes, yes and yes. And the allowing.... yes, I had that pat.  Save your money and your time, folks.  The long and short of it is, it is a scam.  From what I have gathered, the people who had success with it, only got it because they got off their backsides and took some action.  Which is contrary to what The Secret preaches.  The Secret says no action is required - all you have to do is to visualise and allow it to happen.  Bollocks.

Actually, Mia, in the movie, they state clearly that you have to take action, by saying, and I'm paraphrasing: "When you have an inspired thought, you should take action and trust in it."  You have to be doing something to allow what you want to happen.  Obviously you can't sit on the couch, visualize a million dollar home, and expect it to come to you in the blink of an eye.  You may want a job, that allows you to have some income, and then through that you find ways to save the money on the downpayment of a million dollar home.  And by thinking positively on that home of your dreams, you allow yourself to be open to the Universe, and can see the path to take to get that home.  Like it is stated, in the book and movie, we're not talking about wishful thinking, or imaginary craziness. And remember, there is a time delay.  If you ever doubted yourself when you quit your job, or were nervous, perhaps that is what put the ball of your life in motion into the direction it took.  And remember, Dr. Joe Vitale states, "everything that surrounds you right now in your life, including the things you're complaining about, you've attracted."  Plus, it is said that feelings are key.  If you ever felt scared, nervous, unsure, then you weren't thinking positively.  Nowhere in the book or movie did it state that you should quit your job.... why would anyone just do that?  Why not visualize a pay increase?  And you even state yourself, from what you've gathered, the people that had success with it, only got it because they got off their backsides and took some action.  Well of course.  Be positive and visualize, but still have some common sense.
