Mother teaches 4-year-old girl how to smoke pot

Police say a 4-year-old girl demonstrated to them how to smoke marijuana from a joint, a pipe and a bong — and learned the techniques from her mother.

The mother, 25-year-old Lisa Schuchard, is charged with child abuse and could lose her daughter after being accused of teaching and encouraging the girl to smoke.

Authorities say Child Protective Services received a complaint that the 4-year-old and a 2-year-old son of Schuchard were dirty and living in a filthy home that had drug paraphernalia around.

Is there a way to prevent people such as these from reproducing? Or is there a way to better educate how to be a parent? Can states make it mandatory to take parenting classes for all child abuse cases?

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

I think it's sad that the government cannot prevent idiots like this from reproducing.

Very interesting post!  There are so many kids with screwed up parents!  Some parents sell their kids into prostitution, some physically abuse their kids, some mentally abuse them, some sexually abuse them, some just ignore them and don't nurture, teach them, or spend any time with them, or even tell the kid, "I wish I never had you", and "you're a mistake".  Many kids, live in crappy, third world conditions with no running water, heat, or enough food.  Many kids are homeless too, either on the street or in shelters.  Can we save them all?  I think kids are tough, what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger.  Can we keep stupid people from reproducing?  Well, sure, we have the technology to do it but I think that would be unconstitutional!  Can we make it mandatory to attend parenting classes?  Sure we COULD, but is that the answer?

I have to agree with Eric on this one. People like this need to be sterlized.

Indoctrinate U - Our Education/Their...

Once I saw the film, I had to support it by purchasing the DVD. It cost me about $22.00 but the film is independant so it's support, rather than a rip-off. You can get your own downloaded copy for about $10 when you visit the website store: http://indoctrinate-u.com/pages/welcome.html Indoctrinate U, Evan Coyne Maloney's much anticipated documentary exposing the anti-intellectual, intolerant culture of our nation's campuses, is finally here. Early versions of the film won prizes and international critical acclaim. Maloney has been called "a Michael Moore, only with integrity." And the film has been dubbed "a call to action" that will "shock the conscience of Americans in the best sense, through exposure to truth and logic." Now, just in time for graduation, the film America needs to see has arrived. Released in Spring, 2007, Indoctrinate U is already creating a major buzz. The film was featured on Hannityís America Sunday, March 18, 2007. Advance media coverage of Indoctrinate U and its short film predecessor Brainwashing, has been enormously positive and encouraging. London's Daily Telegraph has called the film "as slick and incisive as anything by Michael Moore," and predicts that it "will lay bare the hypocrisy of what he calls the most self-righteous people in America - and possibly cost them millions of dollars." The New York Sun calls Maloney the "conservative answer to Michael Moore," and observes that the film is expected "to emerge as a breakout theatrical hit." The Chronicle of Higher Education notes that Maloney's movie has a powerful "immediacy" to it, allowing us to "see the people who feel they have been discriminated against and the hurt on their faces as they tell their stories." And a critic writing for Hollywood's Ain't It Cool News pronounced the film to be "one of the most "horrifying and hysterical documentaries I have ever seen." Long awaited and incredibly timely, Indoctrinate U is the documentary event of the year. Every parent, student, and taxpayer in America should see this film. The future of our higher education system depends on it.
