Has anyone attended an NACA workshop for mortgage modifications? If so was it helpful, were you successful?

it's hit or miss. like any non profit they are backed up. they do have a good intake system and you might prevail. However if you ask what is their success rate and what is their redefault rate they probably can't tell you.  Also I have a friend that worked at NACA and they are paid approx. $1,500 per file regardless of whether they are successful or not. Yes, it's free to you but it's tax payer money with no guarantee of success. Non profits can be helpful but make sure you ask the hard questions before you have anyone both non profit and for profit help w/ your loan mod since your house is at stake.  Hope that helps and full disclosure, I own a loan mod firm but all homeowners need to be informed and get all the facts, not believe what they see in the media and hear from the current administration, because you are not getting all the facts. There is a reason for this but I don't need to go into that here.  Hope this is helpful and good luck

A girlfriend of mine looked into NACA a while ago and she had said that there was a monthly fee to be a member and a time commitment to volunteer in a NACA office every month or so. The fee wasn't to much but the time commitment was a problem for her because of work and childcare. Sounded okay except for taht.

i actaully got my modification through NACA...it was my last ditch effort, i had tried every other thing out there including tryin with my mortgage company Countrywide. It was a very easy smooth process. I got my modification in 2 months! i went from a 7% and 11% rates down to 3% for 30yr fix!!! my mortgage was cut in half..so i am a believer in NACA..i think its a faster and better process to go inside the office if you have a local building rather than applying on line. I didnt even have to do the class. so yes NACA does work, it worked wonders on me!

yes, my friends were very grateful
