I love junk food and one f the reasons is the taste of MSG, I know there is an amount of MSG you should not consume but is it for a period of time or for your entire life. In other words how much Chinese food can I it?

MSG is a highly insidious additive, meaning that it is almost always added to foods as a flavor enhancer. Therefore you are taking itin very small quantities in almost all foods prepared in restaurants and almost all junk foods. But it is also added to many prepared foods purchased in the supermarket. This adds up over time. It would be best to limit your junk food intake not only because of the MSG but also for fat and calory intake which also adds up and can contribute to overweight and even diabetes. It is just not worth it.

Dear Rosie,

There are many studies that show the connections between consuming MSG and chronicle diseases such as  Alzheimer's disease , Parkinson's syndrome, cancer and more. MSG is not recommended to be consumed at any amount. When I eat Chinese food (which I also like), I ask to prepare it without MSG. Most places only add it at the end of the cooking, so it's not a problem. I personally can't tell the difference between food with or without MSG, it's very similar, only much healthier.
