I don't think you have to call it "prayer."
There are some of us in the world who do not ascribe to any particular religion - or any religion at all. Would you deny those people their chance at getting "important things in the world?"
I think perhaps a better term is honesty or integrity or thoughtfulness. You know, the basic Golden Rule. Those who do their best to live by that Rule surely deserve to end up with the important things, don't they?
And to me, the most important thing is happiness - which comes from my family, and my health - and love.
P.S. For the record, I identify as an Agnostic.
