Free as a bird.

Turn off your air conditioning when it's not required

Keep your tires properly inflated.

Change your speed gradually, not abruptly.

Drive in the correct gear.

The smooth riding mentioned in the article is one I use whenever I drive.  I also check the tires every two weeks to ensure they are inflated.

Another way to save wear and tear, is not to drive if you don't have to.
