Modular home outlets electric ark, random permanent loss of power, burn marks on outlets and light fixtures

I own a 1992 Independence Modular Home, manufactured by Century Homes. I have been seeing electrical archs when I plug things in my outlets. I lost power to 3 outlets on one wall, then the power returned for a while and then the same 3 out lets went dead and have remained dead. The breakers never moved. I installed new out lets thinking maybe there was a surge and the outlets burned out but no such luck. I also have outlets with burn markes around holes and a light fixture in my basement that flashes on and off, I put in a new light bulb and noticed brown like burn marks around the neck of the outlet. I removed the light bulb and left the fixture empty. I been trying to find a electrical diagram with no luck. I feel like I could go to bed one night and not wake up due to a electrical fire. HELP

Sounds like a loose ground wire or connection. Check to see if you have alluminum wiring instead of copper. I would suggest you turn off the breaker to this circut until you get it diagnosed.

Contact your local builder.
Preferably, call the factory they gave you a contact to the builder who oversaw construction.
Good luck.

Deb, a lot could be happening there. Number one; Your Home is probably wired with aluminum wire so all switches, lights, outlets have to rated to be used for aluminum wire. If at a previous time these were switched out and not replaced with the correct devices what happens is that copper and aluminum are good conductors but not together. Because they are dissimilar metals they react against each other, more so when electrical current is passing through them. They form a corrosion that is very resistive to current flow causing that point of contact to get hot and not make contact. That’s why you may be losing power, that and the way it’s wired. So that is a starting point.  One or more of your outlets may be burned out breaking the circuit. Number two; aluminum expands and contract from electrical current heating more than copper does so it a good idea to have a qualified electrician go back and check all of your connections because after a time they may come loose. The arching you see may be from that. The burn marks may be from the outlets heating up and /or being worn out and not making a good contact with the plug. All in all in my opinion you need to have a qualified electrician to go through your whole house and give it a top to bottom inspection. It might be a little expensive but you will sleep better.

you need to call out the reep of the tralier company and get there appean of what is happning there this just sound like you may need to have some of those outlets changed out  the wire in that house is copper they havent used alumenam in moble homes for a long time . 92 the codes where differnt so you should call the factory where you live and see if they will seend someone to cheak out why they are doing that. you can also call your local power company out and they will look at it for you to. if you have eny more quistions i would call the factory.

You should call the power company or a licensed electrician to take a look at it for you.  Electricity can be very dangerous and it is much better to be safe than sorry.  I also recommend you visit http://bsafeelectrix.com/.  This is a company that invented a new type of electrical outlet.  The outlet they built was created to prevent electrical fires.  I have installed them in my house and recommend others to do the same.  I suggest you visit the website and see what they have to offer.

sorry but modular homes are basically thrown together...this is simply a loose wiring connection either the power wire or the return wire you have to trace the problem back to the device where you're losing the connection . find all the outlets & devices that are on that circuit and check the connections.loose connections cause heat and could start a fire.

It’s very hard to predict especially if you don’t know anything about such problems. Maybe you should hire someone who knows best about it and know how to use any equipment testers
