Who are today's great philosophers or thinkers?

As with artists, it's very hard to answer who's philosophy would stand the test of times. I'm sure that in Plato and Aristotle's times there were a whole bunch of other philosophers who were forgotten by now. Also contemporary philosophy, is divided to quite a lot of different fields and it depends on what you are interested in.

This is a pretty long list of active living philosophers and their field of study.

My favorite modern philosopher is Sam Harris (not the Star Search champion). Known primarily as a staunch adversary of Creationism his ideas about the nature of belief are the most relevant in our time.

Perhaps not exactly a philosopher of today, but at least of yesterday: Sir Karl Popper

In my opinion the worlds most influencing philosopher of the last century. His views on peace, epistemology and science are so great. I can recommend all of his books but if you want an overview of his work buy "All Life is Problem Solving".
