Smile  If it's funny, laugh. If it isn't funny, laugh anyway!  Smile

This is one of the finest displays of humanity in years. Some are calling it a Miracle, some are saying Heroic. Maybe so. Or maybe, it was a group of people on a doomed flight that decided they were going to live.

The Capt. had announced they were going down and to be prepared. People prepared, prayed, and waited for what might happen. The Captian brought the plane down into the frigid waters of the Hudson. Only a few seconds passed and the passengers and flight crew, including the Captain started helping one another. There was little panic, saving lives became the most important thing. Passengers thrust exit doors open. With the help of the crew they began exiting the plane. Within minutes everyone was safely off of the sinking airplane.... Rescue workers in boats removed people from the water in  moments. One hundred and fifty passengers and 5 flight crew survived. Is it a miracle?

It shows me that when people work together for a common good of all that miracles are possible. There was no other agenda but saving lives. Noone looked at the color of the others skin, or asked their political persuasion or religious beliefs. Imagine that! They stood as ONE, and for the common goal, beat the odds, and Survived!.............

a good story but when does the passengers wanting to live have anything to do with the flying or landing of a disabled aircraft?

i think all the airlines should take a look at their emergency landings plans. the water in a river makes for a much softer landing than would landing in a field. the pilot should commended to the highest degree for the sense he showed. i am sure that both airports were visible as his plane was descending but he made the wise choice. pilots every where should take a look at this near tragedy.  people standing on the wing after a forced landing just blew me away.rivers if possible should be considered  for possible emergency landing sites look at the results; 155 boarded plane went down 155 rescued. thank you Lord

Thin slices of thought cut quickest.

I do not know that it is a miracle.....but several factors fell into play to have something like this happen and the outcome to be PERFECT. The pilot (check out his resume on TMZ) had the expeierence in flight and saftey controls that not all pilots can get...So the pilot AND co-pilot were definatly a huge factor. Also, the river was not frozen...I bet it will be in the next week. The complete evacuation in a few minutes...the flight attendants must have done a wonderful job in helping people to remain calm....of all those passengers, it seems none fell into a state of complete panic, or completly lost control to hamper an orderly evacuation of the plane....The communication between the pilots, the air traffic control, and the Harbor Autorities...the boats, yes thats plural, were there in the timeliest of manner...It would have done no good if it took the boats 30 minutes to get there. This should be studied and used as a tool for others to learn how the systems put in place for this situation, can work near perfect, when followed. Glad that all these people are OK and hope they are with thier families now...looking at how precious life truly is.

I have been watching this story all weekend and it is amazing how, "People helping People", made the difference between life and death.

I thought the landing on the Hudson was absolutely brilliant. The pilot remained calm and professional throughout and was able to avoid a total disaster. I don't know how I would have reacted if I had been on that flight ( probably freak out) but it was almost like watching a movie and everyone knowing exactly what they were supposed to do..........with God as the director, guiding them to safety. If a movie is made from this "Miracle on the Hudson", I hope the "actors" do as brilliant a job as the people they are supposed to be portraying. It was wonderful seeing a potential disaster turn out with such a happy and safe ending for all!!!!
