Milo Ventimiglia

I recently read that Milo Ventimiglia is vegetarian, and I must say that he has great body. Isn't it necessary to eat meat in order to keep fit?

No, it is not neccesary to eat meat, it is only neccesary to get protein.  You can get this from many different foods.  If you are purely Vegan, you would not eat eggs, milk or cheese, but many vegetarians like myself, eat milk, eggs and cheese which are all good sources for protein.

no.meat is not nessary.legumes(peanuts and beans) and grains together     contain the complete compliment of amino acids  as does meat.other veggies contain the rest of the vitamins  for protein production.

1 thumb up

Dion, there are many alternatives to meat - the most obvious being BEANS! Beans are a great source of protein. In fact, many latino/hispanic dishes are served with beans in place of meat/chicken for a change from the usual meat dinner. Or they can be served in addition to meat for extra protein and flavor. Red meat is actually not too healthy and should be consumed in moderation. Seafood low in mercury is much healthier and nutritious than meat. But it's scientifically proven that humans don't need to eat any animal products at all to remain healthy. Although I am not vegetarian, my friend is a strict vegan (which means he doesn't even eat dairy) and he is one of the healthiest and strongest guys I know.

{Insert Catchy Phrase HERE}

Peanuts and soybeans are high in the same proteins as meat.  Most vegans and vegetarians eat them to keep their protein levels up.  Besides, if he's a vegetarian, not a vegan, he can still eat eggs and other dairy products.

No; so long as you get the right vitamins and minerals in your diet, it doesn't matter where they come from, so long as you get them. Smile

There are whole civilizations that have led long healthy lives without eating meat.  It is possible to get all the protein and nutrients you need for plants only.  A registered dietitian can help set up an eating plan that meets all needs with a plant based diet.  For information anyone can go to eatright.org, and be directed to a reliable source of information on getting all the things you need to be healthy and look great without meat.
