Microphone not working

Hi,

My sound setting is ok but microphone does not work. Microphone setting is selected from recording option and select the microphone option from recording. No mute problem with either microphone or wave or audio sound.. The microphone speaker setting is found inactive but volume can scroll up or down...

Please help................
