I would love to visit Mexico, but until that government stops the violence, it is out of the question. I hear it is a wonderful place. They should have millions of tourists a year, but, until the kidnapping, drugs trafficking, and the murders stop they won't prosper.

When you have young adults who drink and party like they do at home,in another country? Your going to have problems. I myself have helped get friends out of a mexican jail..the conditions are worse than u can imagine. And when the idiots cry for the US Goverment to help them....ha...better get use to eating rice and spoiled beans kids. If you can't behave HERE..down there they will teach you how to behave.

i think the areas where most (80%) of spring breakers go is to the beaches and where the violence is ocurring si mostly in the border towns

Be smart, travel with a group; be aware of your surroundings.. There should always be friends with you watching your back. Do not put your drinks down and do not drink to excess. There are crazies in this world and you do not want to become a statistic. Do not travel alone.

I have visited Mexico annually for the past 20 years.  Important to note that the border towns (Tijuana, Juarez, Laredo, etc) are where much of the reported violence is taking place but these towns do NOT represent the country or its citizens.  I have always made sure of my surroundings, where I go and the times I chose to visit a certain area.  I also practice this philosophy when I visit New York, New Orleans, Chicago, Detroit and LA.  Mexico is experiencing some internal challenges caused by the drug trade, much like those in Miami during the 1980's.  Just pay attention, be smart and limit the tequila.....

The warnings are a good idea, however, most kids see themselves as invulnerable, so will not heed solid advice anyway. Mexico is a beautiful vacation spot. Unfortunately it is also a hot spot for drug trafficking, kidnapping and violence. Contrary to earlier advice from marco m. criminals don't restrict themselves to urban areas. Think about it. If you wanted to kidnap a wealthy person for ransom, where would be easier than a crowded Mexican beach full of wealthy Americans?

I live near the Mexican border and go over occasionally. The violence is in cities between drug cartels in Matamoros and Reynosa, but I go to a town that was a bordello town and now is a haven for winter Texans who like the cheap booze and medication and happy hours every day. If this town has drug problems it will close the town since no one will come. As for Breakers, they should stay in the beach area where they are safe in the US. No need to go across where the Mexicans just shove the drunks back over into the US, so let them stay in TX. And stay relatively sober. Parents would be apalled to see their kids screwing and drinking, so why give them the money to come just to do that? Blame parents.
