"Show Message Status" on webmail - why has it disappeared?

I use AOL on the Web a lot, and today I notice that the "Show Message Status" option for Sent Mail has disappeared... has AOL decided we don't need it? Personally, I don't need filters, I don't need perky little panels nor do I need to see the news AGAIN when I sign on to e-mail, but I DO want to be able to check if my mail to other aol-ers has been read.  PLEASE, bring this back!

6 thumbs up

There are actually 2 functions missing --- "Show Message Status" and "Unsend".  I did a browse on the help...help for these functions are still on AOL Mail Help.

I'd like them back --- very handy features.  May need to start using Yahoo!

Very annoying, right?  I'm with you on this.  I thought I was going crazy yesterday when I couldn't check the message status on my sends...an option that brought me to AOL to begin with!  Then I couldn't locate the "Unsend" option either!  I HATE IT!  What is with AOL?  I depended heavily on both of those options and now they've vanished into thin air.  Are there any other mail sites that offer such options?  I have a Yahoo account, but as far as I can tell there is no way to check the status of a sent message.  Anyway.....yes, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring back the message status option especially!  Whew....I'm glad I found these posts here, because for about 24 hours I was feeling entirely alone on the message status issue.

Forgot to mention that I did send a complaint to AOL regarding the fact that AOL users are no longer able to check message status or "unsend" e-mails.  I would suggest that everyone do the same and that you "spread the word" to all other AOL users you know to send complaints as well.  Go down to bottom of your AOL mail page and click on "Feedback", then type in your complaint, answer a couple of questions and send.  Perhaps if enough users complain they will bring those options back.  Worth a try, at least.  In the meantime, it's just not the same on AOL mail.  Ya know?

Since AOL removed these features for better product performance, I posted the coment below at AOL's mail blog site: http://mailblog.aol.com. (I don't know why I'm so grumpy today, it's Friday, lol).
-------------------------------------------------
IS THE IMPROVED PERFORMANCE YOU SPEAK OF: A RESULT OF ALL YOUR CUSTOMERS CANCELING THEIR AOL ACCOUNTS?? THE FEATURES YOU REMOVED FOR MAIL ('STATUS' AND 'UNSEND') ARE WHAT KEPT MYSELF AND MANY OTHERS FROM GOING TO YAHOO OR GMAIL YEARS AGO! THESE ARE GREAT FEATURES THAT SET YOU APART FROM THE REST... PLEASE ADD THESE FEATURES BACK!... OR... I/MYSELF, MY FRIENDS, FAMILY, AND CO-WORKERS WILL CANCEL WITH AOL (ABOUT 50+ OF YOUR CUSTOMERS). I'M THE "TECH GUY" OF THIS GROUP OF 50+ AND THEY WILL FOLLOW MY LEAD. I WILL ASSIST THEM IN CANCELING AOL AND ASSIST THEM WITH SETTING UP NEW YAHOO OR GMAIL ACCOUNTS IF THESE FEATURES ARE NOT ADDED BACK... PLEASE ADVISE. JASON
