Menapause or what?

I'm 57 years old. I want to know if menapause causes sweating? Not just night sweats but anytime of the day or night?  Should I still be getting symptoms at my age? Is there anything I can do about it?

Alice,  Yes you can get sweating 24 hours a day.  My aunt told me the story of a friend of hers.  She used to ride the bus to work.  It would be cold out, with snow on the ground, and the friend got off the bus, and was walking with her coat on her arm.  She was too hot from menopause to wear her coat.  You can have menopausal symptoms for years.  It they are really bothersome for you, see your doctor for hormone replacement therapy (HRT).  I know there was a big to do about it a few years back, but they are safe in small does, and for a short amount of time.  Many women still take them.  I know sweating is no fun, but try to "keep your cool".

If you think things can't get worse it's probably only because you lack sufficient imagination.

LOL... I had a mass on my ovaries and an ovarian cancer scare 3 years ago, promting a radical hysterectomy.  My mother died of ovarian cancer at the age of 42, so it was very frightening for me.  All is well, but this threw me instantly into menopause, and I have been hot ever since.  I asked the doc if was really necessary to remove my thermostat lol.  Other than that, I have no other troublesome issues, and it has decreased over time.  I elected NOT to use hormones because they are known now to be linked to breast cancer.  I simply wasn't willing to trade worry for one type of cancer for worry of another.  I sleep with the fan on high every night, regardless of the outside temps, and haven't taken a hot shower in 3 years...I have to keep the water cool.  I do get hot at various times of the day and night but I keep telling myself... this too shall pass.  Undecided

Talk to your doctor and weigh the pros and cons of HRT.  If you decide it's not for you, there are a couple of natural remedies that people say help with the hot flashes.  You can look them up online.  I took the natural route and as I stated, it's getting better all  the time.

Good luck with this one!
