Men as Mothers

Can men become as good at raising children as women? Do men have the "motherhood" gene? If a male were to raise his kid alone, would both turn out fine?

Hi,

Men have a very important function in the raising of children but there is nothing like a mother's touch. It's biology. That's the way nature works.

I think men can raise children in a wonderful way but there is still something special about the interaction between a mother and her child.

Men can be as good as men in raising children, and I think it a gross generalization to assume women are naturally better.

There's no reason either son or father will turn out anything but fine.

Im a 51 year old single father of two teenagers that lost their Mother in may of 07.I have always had a great relationship with my kids and assumed the roll of mother and father suddenly.I have to tell you that it is one of the hardest things i have ever encountered. But the kids seem to have an internal seince of what needs to be done and when to do it. I know they miss their mother and it seems they dont want to let her down .I think a mother and father both need to influence kids to round them out but when one is not with us anymore what was embebed in them from the start with whatever parent is never lost. I believe the kids will be fine and become productive adults and lead normal lives

I've heard some instances where the father act as a mother in a child..And those stories were inspirational and I think that's a good sign.

There are horrible little people here. Watch out!

Hi Joe Sycam. Smile There are men who are fabulas Fathers for their kids and women who are fabulas Mothers. There are also people, men and women who are horrible being either.. or fabulas being both.

If you're a single parent, I would say learn all you can about the opposite sex. A man with a girl has to understand his daughters needs, "clothes, make-up, boys, puberty etc.. and a woman with a boy has to understand her son's needs, "sports, friends, boys wanting to fight him, girls, puberty etc..

I know it can be done, it just takes a lot of education, information, and dedication to your kids.

And never forget the big hugs, and those words "I love you".
