I watched the UEFA cup finals with a friend last night. I saw that when a substitution took place there was a message indicating the distance the player who left the field covered during the game. I'm curious to know who this distance is measured.
I've seen it too. From what I've heard, many cameras which are scattered around the field send live video to a computer program which in turn, can analyze the data and calculate the distance.
