Mass transportation because of gas prices

Do you use mas transportation to get to your job because gas prices are so high?

Do you think the city should increase frequency to natch the increase?

As a long term solution, just about every mass transit provider worldwide should increase capacity; however, that's easier said than done. Buses, subway cars, etc. are quite expensive to fund, both initially as well as to keep them going. Thus, transit agencies have long planning curves and are not typically capable of accommodating short term spikes in usage.

My suggestion is simple. Get a folding bike you can take on the bus or train. If the transit car is full, just ride the bike all the way. If it's not full, fold your bike and take the mass transit option.

"What does it profit a man to gain the world if he loses his soul?"

Unfortunately, with my line of work that is impossible.  I have to take large amounts of tools with me where ever I go to work at, plus there are materials and hardware and a lot of other stuff.

If I were an office worker I would use mass transit (as I have in the past).  A greater frequency of buses would be convenient, but they would have to use much smaller buses as the ones in my city now are mostly empty and wasting diesel fuel to cart around less than a dozen people at the most.

The addition of bike racks has made them much more useful.  We call that busycling.
