I have been the witness for my sister in law marriage permit at the city hall, but after that I found out that she is marrying an illegal immigrant. Ovbiously I am afraid that I might get in trouble when she decides to submit the petition for her husband's visa and my name appears in the marriage certificate. can I withdraw after I was a witness or that is not possible? should I just go to the city hall and tell them that I do not wish to be a witness for that marriage?
