Mange causes odor in dogs

I've probably read every article on the net about why dogs have bad odors and no one, not even professionals, have mentioned mange. So, my question is, Why haven't they mentioned it? My dog had demadectic mange, a very serious infestation, and it caused a VERY strong odor. Once the mange was controlled, the smell went away. Dog owners need to know this.
